The Church Is Silent...

The church has failed us or is failing us. For it is silent and too involved with Caesar. But “give unto Caesar what is Caesars...”, don’t give him your life, that belongs to the Ultimate! You see, the church is supposed to be above and beyond and all transcending. It should be separate from all this political patronage stuff so that it can provide a safe and calming community and Be the prophetic voice. But the church is in bed with politicians and takes sides thereby diluting and corrupting their message or making them indifferent to the missteps of our elected leaders which facilitates injustice like the one we have today and yesterday and the day before and so on; where blacks are being gunned down everyday by police. Yet we allow a President to stand at St. John’s with Bible after he had violently cleared peaceful protesters so that he can have a photo-op. But the church is more concerned with identity politics than with being the conscience of the country, defender of the people and God’s voice. They are so “silent” on current affairs issues it’s deafening. Instead of being Protagonists, Activists and active advocates, they’re more reactive, delayed and too late in their messaging or conflicted and divided.
It wasnt until just recently that the evangelical leaders finally came out and spoke. White evangelicals angered over the killing of George Floyd this summer have joined protests and declared that “Black lives matter” — and some have even championed reparations as they tried to promote racial reconciliation. But their continued support for President Trump has disgusted Black evangelical leaders, many of whom have let them know they are not interested.

Moreover, where was the church when it was proven that Trump helped Russia to interfere in our election? Where’s the church when it was reported that Trump was changing the postal service as a strategy to interfere in the election? Where’s the church when Trump adopted a hostile posture and not one of compassion toward refugees and Immigrants and Muslims? And where was the church when we left our allies “out to dry” in Syria?

Further, Trump, who has demonstrated a pattern of amplifying racism throughout his presidential term, responded to mass social-justice protests this summer by calling demonstrators “thugs” and defended the naming of U.S. military bases for Confederate generals.

If the Church is silent, it is their message of challenge, hope, healing and love for all which is is the message of God, that is missing from the world of chaos thereby abrogating their duty as “God’s people” to represent God thereby providing testifying of God’s reality. But the church’s silence defeats their message if the Reality if God. But Whether or not they are quiet, God is....
