Caribbean Thought Semester 2 2024 Lecture 1 on 1.12.2024 by Prof. Renaldo McKenzie: Brainstorming the Course

Image
Renaldo McKenzie introduces the course on day 1 of semester 2 at Jamaica Theological Seminary in Caribbean Thought. The course via the online portal met to explore the course. Renaldo explores the idea of the Caribbean as an invention underscoring this idea within critical thinking.   We ask in whose interest is the society invented? Have inherited attitudes and beliefs held us back? Wherever you find black people there is poverty? Corruption and waste are possible reasons that have deepened Caribbean realities? What is critical thinking? Critical race theory and the dynamics of race? "The Negro is not. Anymore than the whiteman," (Fanon). Does that pertain today? What is happening in the world today with the rise in extremism and AI technology, how are we affected and what detractions or opportunities do these provide? What is the Caribbean? As part of the New World. The Lecture papers are available at Academia.edu: https://georgetown.academia.edu/Renal

A Quick Note: On The US Economy

The economy is doing well, but it still needs to be felt among regular or working class Americans , who represent the majority of Americans . Why? Because the gains are being enjoyed mainly by the wealthiest Americans . Studies suggest that income inequality is at its highest, supporting our research T he Neoliberal Corporation that indicates this, which we have published in an article in The NeoLiberal Journals theneoliberal.com and discussed on an episode of The NeoLiberal Round Podcast . https://anchor.fm/theneoliberal and https://youtube.com/@renaldomckenzie. Moreover, poverty and homelessness are growing at alarming rates, surpassing pre-pandemic levels. Yet, we continue to tout the economy as a plus for the POTUS administration. We have to move beyond parochial economic analysis to one that is anthropological. I am re-iterating this poignant point here in this short bonus episode. #newscommentary Renaldo McKenzie is the author of Neoliberalism, Income Inequality, Pover

What are the Most Effective Growth Strategies in Remote Areas?

Image
LinkedIn asked me to contribute my Perspectives on a LinkedIn community question : "What are the Most Effective Ways to Promote economic growth in remote areas ? See my reply here: https://lnkd.in/eb3wfA_H We recognize that economics revolves around the judicious allocation of limited resources amidst infinite wants and needs. Specifically, remote areas, harboring some of the most vulnerable populations, find themselves in a state of underdevelopment. This is a direct consequence of growth-limiting strategies that perpetuate disparities, ensuring that the benefits of economic progress are unevenly distributed between remote and more densely populated regions. Furthermore, it is essential to underscore the symbiotic relationship between econom
