#Trump: No Remorse! No Apology! No Plan To Stop Police Violence on BlackLives
It was the moment before the President spoke at the RNC2020 Convention. Ivanka was introducing her Dad. I thought at that moment: The country is in a volatile time with deep issues threatening #Americans. The is a moment and opportunity for the #President. What will he say? Will he divide or seek to heal and galvanize. But to my surprise, the President offered NO Remorse! NO APOLOGY! NO PLAN! To stop #PoliceViolence on #Blacklives or #JacobBlake. Last night at the RNC Convention soon after the NYPD Police endorsed Trump and lamblasted the Left as defending lawlessness and protecting criminals and defended the police record. Trump said in his acceptance speech: “Your vote will decide whether we protect law-abiding #Americans, or whether we give free rein to violent anarchists, agitators & criminals who threaten our citizens”. Like who Mr. Trump, #Jacob Blake or the #Police or #KyleRittenhouse the 17-year old white boy with a gun who killed two black peaceful protesters and injured another. Naw he couldn’t have meant agitators and anarchists like #Blacklives such as #BreonnaTaylor #GeorgeFloyd #TrayvonMartin #trayfordpellerin #JacobBlake who were gunned down by #law-abiding #Americans #Police and peaceful black protesters killed by #rittenhouse.
Yet he said that he’s gonna fight for every vote, every neighborhood & every #American. But then fail to call out the police who are killing Americans, Black Americans and send mixed messages as if we’re fighting against Blacks who are criminals.
But why should I be shocked at his comments last night when his sister has called him cruel and insensitive and not to be trusted. Why should I be surprised when he has demonstrated a lack of conscience on the issue of police brutality on black lives and has only sought to politicize it. In the wake of the #GeorgeFloyd Killing and the mass protest that followed soon after in June, the President took to Mount Rushmore to speak to the American people. It was also a precarious and emotional time for Americans with blacks dealing police brutality, the pandemic and protests that sought some destruction of property and people’s rights to peacefully protest. I wrote: “DonaldTrump spoke from #MountRushmore last evening trying to look #Presidential, and providing a eulogy to memorialize the great fathers of old. But in an effort to do so he was being more divisive, political and insensitive, pandering to his base, ignoring the other #America and subtly drawing battle lines where he is setting the tone for civil unrest as if we’re some totalitarian third world religious country.
But Mr. President we need unity and justice for all. Will you fight for every American such as those #Blacklives who are violated & treated as it they aren’t #realamericans who don’t #matter? Will you hold the police accountable even those who endorsed you? Will offer words of empathy and support to Blacklivesmatter and denounce police brutality and send a strong message to law enforcement who abrogate their duties to make decisions that impact lives.
I strongly doubt it when you have #NYPD police such as #PatLynch speaking for you at the #RNCConvention2020 endorsing you& Denouncing the #democrats. This is the problem. The leaders who are supposed to be holding the police accountable & creating #policereform are in bed with the problem. Our leaders must never appear to be defending the #police in cases involving use of #force that threatens or take lives of anyone as everyone is innocent until proven guilty and the proof of guilt or innocence is beyond the purview of the police, that is the power of the #courts. The police is to preserve the evidence for the legal process and that includes suspects. Our #politicians can’t take sides on these issues but must appear neutral and impartial as they have a duty to country, to the institution of law enforcement and their constituents.
