Get The Police Off The Streets And Off Our Backs!
Police Officers must always be pulled off duty & undergo intense interrogation whenever they use force that involves using a lethal weapon to take out anyone; even if they maybe wrong or right. They must never assume that it is ok to use force without having to provide detailed records and succumb to scrutiny as a deterrence to police brutality and lawlessness and violence.
Get the police off the streets is not a call for lawlessness and disorder, but a call for law and order within our force so that there’s justice and fairness for all.
Police Reform must include triggers that requires the police to always use bodycam and allow the filming of police activities. Police Reform should demand briefings and stringent unbiased investigations lead by a new independent body or the FBI. If the police are deemed as cleared then they can go back on duty. Police Reform must have rigorous protocols for all police shootings which all officers must undergo whenever they’re involved in a shooting or use force even if they’re right. They must feel the weight of the life that they have impacted and as such think twice before they choose a particular course of action. They must first know that they are in the business of saving lives and that de-escalating a situation is more efficacious than escalating it. They must know that if Blake really posed any threat then they could have disabled him in a less forceful way especially when there is speculation or doubt regarding Blake’s actions or whether he is going for a lethal weapon.

Our leaders must never appear to be defending the police in cases involving use of force that threatens or take lives of anyone as everyone is innocent until proven guilty and the proof of guilt or innocence is beyond the purview of the police, that is the power of the courts. The police is to preserve the evidence for the legal process and that includes suspects. Our politicians can’t take sides on these issues but must appear neutral and impartial as they have a duty to country, to the institution of law enforcement and their constituents. But their partiality has sent mixed messages on the issue of police violence and black lives matter and has diluted their efforts to deter police violence on black men.
Trump enjoys the support of the police union and as such this complicates anything he can do to sending a strong message of police change and reform that can have any meaningful impact on police violence. His last policy only strengthens the police resolve as it barely had any teeth in fact almost every city, police reform has been slow and ineffective to prevent police violence. Which begs the question, will there ever be any real end to police brutality on black lives? I am doubtful, if we are to rely on our current political leaders and a system that has facilitated and defended police force with dumb down reform that does nothing to create real change and end to police violence on black lives. Nevertheless #DonaldTrump said that he’s gonna fight for every vote, every neighborhood & every #American. But @realDonaldTrump what does that mean? Will you fight for every American such as those #Blacklives who are violated & treated as it they aren’t #realamericans who don’t #matter?
