Hey Joe Are You Moderate or Socialist?
I wrote an article on my blog recently entitled:
Hey Joe, Here’s A Better Reply To Trump When He Questions Your Mental Fitness http://renaldocmckenzie.blogspot.com/2020/08/hey-joe-heres-better-reply-to-trump.html
I posted the above link on Facebook and David Krouse commented with a question that I had thought meant for me. He asked:
“Hey Joe, Are You Moderate or Socialist?
I responded: David Krouse I am Renaldo who begs the question of anyone or anything. I am a thinker who thinks about everything and questions everything including that which I thought was true and held dear to in order to arrive at truth. I’m a stirrer of the pot that invites critical thinking that challenges ones own positions in order to continue the vocation of discovery
After rereading the Facebook post I realized that the question may had been directed at Joe.
I replied: David Krouse I guess you meant to ask Joe that. And whose a “socialist” or what’s a socialist? People define a thing in outrageous and far reaching terms so as to provide a basis to prove their point when the definition is flawed. We look to Cuba, China, Russia, Lenin, and dictators and despots and failed communist and so-called “socialist” countries to justify our flawed arguments using pseudo-appeal to association. We have a country with people that believe in economic freedom for all and a country that works for all and where opportunities are equally available to all and where those behind can be equipped and helped to join the benefits of society. But there are those who value and want to protect their individual gains which is not necessarily gained through hardworking but nepotism and disenfranchisemen, associations and connections legacies and inheritance and neoliberalism.
Socialism requires capitalism as a stage towards egalitarianism or socialism. But not the kind of capitalism that we have today. I’m talking about the kind or rather the Spirit of capitalism that had the “Protestant Ethic” as described by Weber.
What we have as American Capitalism today is nepotism and neoliberalism. This I have spelled out in an essay and a book that is forthcoming. But in the mean time check my blog
