She went on to say that:
“Productive disagreement is vital. Why? Because our brains are wired to grow and learn only when we’re challenged. We cannot grow and learn – which means we cannot solve new problems; we cannot challenge the status quo; we cannot lead – if we continue to surround ourselves with the same people, the same ideas, the same old same old”.
You are spot on Carly Fiorina. Because for some #diversity means to create a facad to obfuscate the obvious that what counts for diversity is a shell or a movie studio with a scene of a beautiful town only that when one walks in there’s nothing behind the structures. Some firms think that having one or two black or brown people in leadership positions as “figure heads” and provide a photo-op for their company that they’re inclusive or diverse but when you delve into the realities at the office more often than not these figure heads are just that figure heads who are replaced quickly, pressured and scapegoated for company issues, paid less than other office managers and are either overworked, treated as clerical staff expected to “do” but to Not to “say” or “think”. When we look at diversity we should not look at how many different bodies work in positions but what they are actually allowed to do. I have lived that as a senior manager in a company expected to do but not to say or think and then when you do think, challenge or disagree you are vilified as aggressive, obstructive and violating company policy.
