What Is Most Important Here, Health And Safety Or Economics... CDC Cuts Quarantine Period From 14 To 7 Or 10 Days.

The CDC announced two acceptable quarantine periods, though noted that the previously-established 14 days of quarantine is the best way to reduce risk of virus spread.

Officials said quarantine can now end after 10 days without a COVID-19 test, if the person reports no symptoms, or after seven days with a negative test result if the person reports no symptoms.

But what has changed that the CDC can now reverse previous guidelines requiring 14 days quarantine period; yet noting that the previously-established 14 days of quarantine is the best way to reduce risk of virus spread. This is confusing and rather suspicious that the CDC would reduce the quarantine period while saying that the original 14 days is best... this is ambiguous and concerning; given the severity and impact of this covid pandemic that has all adversely imposed itself on human life and even changing the very way of life of humanity.

According to the cdc the reason for the change arises from an analysis of new research and modeling data. Nevertheless CDC has also reasoned that the shorter length of quarantine is hoped to reduce economic hardship and lessen the stress on the public health system amid a rising number of infections.

But these reasons are conflicting. Which is it...? Is it an issue of health and safety or is it an issue of economics. On one had the CDC seem to be saying the earlier, that it is for health and safety and the science would suggest only 7 to 14 quarantine days are needed but then state on the other hand that 14 is best but due to economic implications arising from individuals being out of work and businesses loosing they have sought to go with the economics.

But what is most important here, health and safety or profits? It would seem

In our capitalistic world of greed the economics triumph over all as is always the case. But what needs to happen is that we provide the economic relief needed so that the best health and safety practice and standards guide our decisions. If 14 days is what is best then keep it at 14 days, and politicians should provide the relief needed to facilitate this best practice; this is where political will work with responsible science.
