President Biden Reverses Marijuana Policy, Pardons Prior Offenses, How will Jamaica Respond if any at all?

President Joe Biden Reverses Marijuana Policy, Pardons Prior Offenses

Recently, President Joe Biden of the United States announced an overhaul of the US policy on marijuana and moves to pardon prior federal offenses here.
According to J Mason and D Chiaco of Reuters, nearly 40 U.S. states have legalized marijuana use in some form,
and Biden took steps further by pardoning thousands of people with federal offenses for simple marijuana possession and initiating a review of how the drug is classified, See Reuters Article on Biden's Announcement)Republican Presidential Candidate and a contributor to my podcast, Mr John Anthony Castro commented tersely that “it’s about time!” I absolutely agree, in fact, prior to the 1990s, one out of ten persons used marijuana today, it’s eight out of ten people in the US. So the culture change in terms of its use/ acceptance supports this policy reversal by the Biden Administration.

So this leads to the question, how will the caribbean like Jamaica respond and interpret this as they think about their marijuana laws and the incarcerations that had stemmed from US pressure and leadership on incarcerations and the illegality of marijuana. Will they or continue on as usual?

In retrospect, after freedoms and independence were gifted to newly independent countries many inherited and continued colonial laws & policies that their former masters have transcended. Further, these countries adopted theologies and philosophies that weaken any competitive advantage they can have; much to the chagrin of their former masters.
