To: StephenA, On Diversity, Inclusion and Equity and the Need for Young Blood and Specificity!
Recently Stephen A Smith had Roland Martin, a political commentator and a former anchor at CNN on his show via YouTube. Martin commented on the discussions in the news about DEI, diversity, equity, and inclusion and the stigma surrounding that term. Mr. Smith played Candice Owens responding to Charlie Kirk's comments. See the clip above. However, I had some slight observations regarding Martin's comments and Stephen A Smith's decision to invite Martin on the show to discuss the issue. I found Martin's comments to be cliches and elementary.
Martin is a dinosaur just like Trump and Biden and many of these older men and women who have been occupying positions for lifetime terms stifling the transition of power away from the next generation. Can we have some young budding bright academics and journalists now. Can we develop the youngsters?
By the way, who are "they"? There is this tendency to say that "they treated blacks or white women like so...," but fail to point out who are they that is doing it. This is too general and indirect. Begin with a definition of those to whom we are leveling the criticism of causing the lack or the problem. Then move to the solution. I point out who they are in my upcoming book, Neoliberal Globalization Reconsidered coming this month.
