Is X the new resolve to Social Media?
Is social media becoming too serious with etiquettes transplanted by big businesses and politicians running for office? "Have you heard about #twitteretiquette or social media etiquette? As if social media is "serious" media or academia. So #elonmusk stepped in and now there's #xetiquette," (https://x.com/renaldomckenzie). Donte and I elaborated on and discussed this recent Tweet on this episode of the podcast. We broke it down into several questions which we addressed on the podcast:
1. Should Social Media become serious media or academia?
2. Is there anything such as Twitter or social media etiquette?
3. Will Social Media return to being "Social"?
4. Is Elon Musk the X-Factor ushering "X" etiquette?
There has been a myriad of debates and concerns about whether social media is responsible for abnormalities in teens and human beings without any credible evidence. Yet, social media a tool for human engagement and interaction at the informal and social levels, has been scapegoated as if social media has any human conscience. The fact is that social media such as Twitter is a platform, or resources such as a religious book or canon promoting love, that can be manipulated corrupted, and abused to do something other than their intended purpose to achieve an end that may advance or upend humanity. Nevertheless, regulating scriptures or social media is never the answer as doing so re-monopolizes information controls. I discuss this in an article in The NeoLiberal Journals entitled: "Communication is to make popular, what was the monopoly," (https://theneoliberal.com).
The Podcast was recorded in audio, however, we provided background video images and content for your viewing pleasure which you may find interesting as you watch the show. The episode raised some important points that require further reflection and are explored further in my new book Neoliberal Globalization Reconsidered, Neo-Capitalism and the Death of Nations, Out soon. The episode is available in video on YouTube and in the audio podcast on all major streams: IHeartRadio, Apple Podcast, Amazon Music, Audible, Google Podcast, Radio Public, Pocket Casts Itunes, etc. Find your stream here: https://anchor.fmtheneoliberal
