How Republicans are beating Obama

Republicans are somewhat smart, but reckless. They water down progress only to vote against it and blame those who voted for it in order that they can win. How backward

The republicans spread this propaganda that Obama's policies have hurt the economy, and some persons seem to accept this lie, playing on people's ignorance. But in fact it is the Republicans who have caused the slow economic recovery. They contend that his (Obama's) stimulus is a failure because it hasn't created jobs. But the fact is that the Obama administration and economists had warned that 787 billion dollars were not enough to effectively pump up the economy, because the recession was so severe. Yet it was the very republicans who lobbied against the economic response and are now saying the response failed. They complained that the Stimulus was too high a bill for the American people to foot and that, after all, the economy will take care of itself. Ofcourse, this is not the case, the economy doesn't unilaterally takes care of itself. There is a cause and effect relationship that exists. Their are players in the system that hijack it for there purposes, hence regulations and financial stimuli are necessary to bring about normalcy and equity.

The stimulus didn't fail, it just wasn't enough to stop the free fall, help the most vulnerable (poor) and jump-start economic growth and employment. 787 billion can do so much and no more. We know that it stopped the free fall of the economy, saved some jobs and created a safety net for the most vulnerable. But that was it. We cannot also expect it to grow the economy by adding jobs.

In deed, the Republicans have been effective in minimizing a solid response by the Obama administration so that they can ultimately assert that his (Obama's) efforts are less than convincing and have failed. But the truth has come to roost, that the republicans have played dirty politics, obstructing progress, so that they can effectively posture a campaign strategy against the Democrats and their half-hearted policies. Obama's style played right in their hands. They used his diplomacy and collaborative approach of decision making against him. In effect, his strengths were used against him. The republicans are effective opponents, using the judo-technique to win the fight against the democrats.

The fact is Mr. Obama changed his policies several times in order to meet the republicans half way, but no way and nowhere was anywhere or would suffice. They (republicans) eventually voted against his policies, and in the end Obama's efforts were watered down and passed by a dominant democratic house. This played right in the hands of the Republicans who can now posit a criticism that the policies  were not enough to remedy the economy. On the face of it, the economic recovery policy hasn't been effective enough, but if truth be told we came to this position as a result of the republicans who have subverted and usurped the political and economic system. In fact the economy is better off today than it was a year ago. So there is small but steady progress. Nevertheless, if it weren't for their obstructionist stance to the full-some and wholesome economic recovery package it could be argued that the recovery would have been more robust.

Hopefully the Obama admin has learned their lessons and I think they have. President Obama has somewhat now lessen his dependence on the collaborative approach for a partisan one without abandoning republican ideals or ideas. His success will largely depend on his ability to understand republican politics so that he doesn't play into their hands. What the public doesn't understand is that President Obama has taken a centrist position on most policies so as to demonstrate a balance and to appease all sides. but this has largely failed as Conservatives only clamor for their ideological positions and the Liberals are less than amused and alarmingly in the end the apolitical or independents remain indifferent and oblivious.
